Studio Policies
PAYMENTS
- There is no registration or annual fee.
- Payments are due at the start of each month, before the first lesson. Payments received after this time will incur a $20 late fee.
- I accept cash or online payment via Zelle.
- Weekly Lessons: Weekly Lessons are billed at a flat monthly rate based on 4 lessons. If a month includes 5 lessons, you may either skip one lesson or receive a free lesson.
- Payment must be received before any lesson, including the first lesson of the month, can be taught.
- Monthly payments must be made consistently from August through May, without exception.
- Summer Lessons (June-July) are billed individually based on the number of sessions taken, not a flat monthly rate.
- Recital, studio class, audition, and other performance fees
- Piano accompanist fee (for voice students)
- Piano books, songbooks, sheet music, and binder
CANCELLATION
- A 24-hour cancellation notice is required to reschedule a lesson. Make-up lessons will be scheduled based on mutual availability.
- I do not offer refunds or credits for missed lessons. However, make-up lessons are available.
- A maximum of 2 make-up lessons per month will be allowed.
- Make-up credits expire 30 days after issuance.
- If I need to cancel due to illness or a scheduling conflict, I will offer an appropriate option for a make-up lesson.
- If you wish to discontinue lessons, a 30-day advance notice is required. If you do not provide this notice, you will be expected to pay for the following month.
DISMISSAL POLICY
Nana’s Voice & Piano Studio reserves the right to dismiss any student for the following reasons:

- Continued unpreparedness for weekly lessons
- Failure to pay tuition on time
- Persistent unexcused absences
- Uncooperative attitude from the student or parent/legal guardian
- Failure to follow practice instructions, lack of progress, or unfulfilled requirements
- Failure to bring necessary books or materials
LESSON EXPECTATIONS
- All students must wash their hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer before lessons.
- Students should remove shoes upon entering the studio and are encouraged to wear socks.
- Students are expected to arrive on time with all their materials and music.
- Parents may drop off and pick up students only. Family members are not permitted inside the studio.
- For safety and legal reasons, parents must drop off and pick up children within 5 minutes of lesson start and end times.
PIANO REQUIREMENT
- For 2-Month Beginner Piano Course Students:
Electric keyboard with full-size keys or an acoustic piano. - For Ongoing Piano Students:
Acoustic piano or electric/digital piano with 88 weighted keys and sustained pedals. - For School Auditioning Piano Students:
Acoustic piano only (in excellent condition, tuned yearly). - For Voice Students:
Portable/electric piano or an acoustic piano.
- An acoustic piano in excellent condition, tuned yearly, is required for students auditioning at the School of the Arts.
- Electric pianos are acceptable if they have 88 weighted keys and three sustain pedals.
MATERIAL NEEDED
- Three-Ring Binder with plastic sheet protectors (voice students, piano students at level 1 and above)
- Metronome (school auditioning piano students): You may purchase a physical metronome or download a free metronome app.
- Tablet or Apple Device (beginner piano students)
PRACTICE
To ensure effective practice, a well-tuned piano, a weighted keyboard in good working order, and a distraction-free room are necessary.
For Beginner Piano Students: Beginner piano students need to use the Piano Adventures Player to practice at home.

- All students are required to maintain a daily at-home practice schedule, which is an important part of the discipline required to improve musical ability.

LESSON VIDEOS & PRACTICE RESOURCES
I record each lesson (for beginner piano students and all voice students) or piano tutorial and send the video link the same day or next day. The videos are available in a private YouTube playlist.

- For beginner piano students, parents help their child practice and review the lesson using these videos.
- For voice students, students must watch and work on the video to review the lesson.
- I also create practice videos (piano tutorials, vocal accompaniment) for each student. These are included in the private YouTube playlist.

- Young Beginner – Piano Adventures Book A, B: 15+ minutes a day, 5+ days per week
- Beginner – Piano Adventures Book C/Primer Level, Adult Book I: 30+ minutes a day, 5+ days per week
- Later Beginner – Piano Adventures Level 1, 2, Adult Book II: 45+ minutes a day, 6+ days per week
- Beginner Intermediates – Piano Adventures Level 3, 4: 1 hour+ a day, 6 or 7 days per week
- Intermediate – Sonatina, Bach Invention Level: 1.5, 2 hours+ a day, every day
- School Audition Students – 2, 3 hours+ a day, every day
- Advanced – Sonata, Bach Prelude & Fugue Level: 3, 4 hours+ a day, every day
- Dreyfoos School, College Audition Students – 4, 5 hours+ a day, every day
Voice Students
- Age under 10 years: 15+ minutes a day, 3+ days per week
- Age 10-13 years: 45+ minutes a day, 4+ days per week
- Age 14-18 years: 1, 1.5 hours a day, 6+ days per week

- You or your child may be photographed or filmed during lessons, recitals, or other events.
- These photos and videos may be used on the studio’s website, social media pages, or other promotional materials.
- If you prefer not to have images or videos shared, please inform me in writing.

PERFORMANCE
- Students are expected to perform at Studio Recitals (Spring/Winter). Recitals serve as progress evaluations and are treated as exams.
- Dress Code: Formal attire is required for all recitals.
- Missed Lessons: Students who miss more than two lessons in a semester may not participate in recitals.
- Other Performances: Selected students may participate in events like Palm Beach County Music Teachers Association and Florida State Music Teachers National Association performances. Students are also encouraged to take part in other competitions and auditions.
