- Failure to pay tuition on time
- Persistent unexcused absences
- Uncooperative attitude from either student or parent/legal guardian
- Failure to follow practice as instructed + lack of progress + unfulfilled requirements
- Not bringing books & materials
Piano (piano students)
- An acoustic PIANO in the best possible condition, tuned yearly, is required.
- An acoustic piano is absolutely required for student who plan to audition at the school of the arts.
- Electric pianos are acceptable provided they come equipped with 88 weighted keys and sustained 3 pedals. I don’t recommend a portable digital keyboard. I am available to assist you to locate a suitable piano.
Materials Needed
- Three Ring Folder with plastic cover sheets (piano, voice students)
- Metronome (piano students): You may purchase or download a free metronome app.
- Tablet or Apple Device (beginner piano students)
Practice
- A well-tuned piano, weighted keyboard in good working order in a room without distractions are necessary for effective practice.
- All students will be required to maintain a daily at-home practice schedule. This is an important part of the discipline required to improve musical ability.
- I film each student’s lesson and send the video link the same lesson day or next morning. Students and parents can watch to review lesson & progress.
- I create practice lessons videos (piano tutorials, vocal accompaniment) for each student. The video is available on each student's playlist of my YouTube channel (un-listed). It is the parent’s responsibility to show these to the student.
- Parents and students are strongly encouraged to communicate via text/email regarding assignment clarification, practice, or other questions.
